The e-booklet is intended to assist a baby or small child to communicate how they are feeling before they can speak, if they are unable to speak or if they have a hearing impairment.
The time taken for a child to start signing back depends on the parents/carers teaching the signs to children through repetition and the child's responses to this. It can take a small baby of 5 months old some weeks to respond to signing depending on their own development stage and whether the signs are being taught in repetition and context.
